[Taiwan] How to get to Taipei from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport？

Let's talk about how to get tot Taipei(台北) from Taoyuan International Airport (桃園機場). There are transport options you can choose, such as taxi, bus or high speed rail. However, the most local people choose buses.

Why?

First, it's expensive to take a taxi from airport to taipei. It may cost over 1000 NTD. However, the taxi is the second comfortable transportation.

Second, it's not very convenient to take the high speed rail. You need to take the shuttle bus to the station of the high speed rail, although it's the most comfortable transportation. Thus, the most convenient and cheap transportation is the bus.

If you are the first time to come to Taipei, I suggest to choose Taipei Main Station as your first stop. There are many companies to provide the bus service, such as Kuo-Kuang, Ubus... The price is very cheap and about 100~140 NT. The route of these buses may be different. I think most people will place their luggage first when they arrive at a country.

For example, if you would lodge at the Ambassador Hotel(國賓飯店) in Taiwan during you trip , you can choose the 1819 bus of Kuo-Kuang.

Taxi

The taxi service counters are located at the west side of the Terminal 1's and Terminal 2's Arrivals Lobby at the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport.

When you take a taxi, just tell the driver where you want to go or show him/her the address with Chinese.


High speed rail

You need to take a shuttle bus to the Taoyuan station of high speed rail. It takes about 10 minutes and costs 30 NTD. When you arrive at the station, buy the ticket and it costs 175 NTD from Taoyuan to Taipei main station. Taking the high speed rail takes you only 20 minutes. Of course, the 20 minutes doesn't include the walking time.
